This week saw champions Anstice A visit the Wellington
Billiard Hall A side. Wellington, who played very well against
the champions last season as they tried to avoid relegation!
gave a good account of themselves. The first frame went to
Sean Harris playing some good snooker against Azear Khan.
The second game produced some fine snooker as Alan Turner
forged a forty lead over Ian Duffy only to watch Ian clear
the Table with three reds remaining, to win the frame on the
pink. Next up, Graham Darrel rolled back the years with a
fine performance against Keith Price winning comfortably.
The next frame saw Neil Price win the match by beating newcomer,
Andy Yates. In the final frame Andy Kendricks produced a solid
game to win against Nick Oakley and leaving Wellington the
losers by the odd point.
Broseley had a fine win over Shifnal A beating them 4-1,
with Angus Way being the winner for Shifnal A. Mick Brezwyn
who seems to have found a second wind made a 48 break in his
game against Andy Easthope.
New signing for Shifnal Phil Whitby is still waiting for
his first win of the season but after being away from snooker
for a while I’m sure his form will soon return! Maddocks
A seem to be struggling to find their form as they lost 4-1
to Anstice D, Phil Davies being the only winner for Maddocks
A. Codden B played Dawley social and forged a 3-2 win, the
highlight for Dawley being Mark Jones fine 47 break against
Simon Yeats.
Shifnal B versus Bayley E found the visitors too strong as
they came away winning 3-2.
The second division also saw their Shifnal F side lose 3-2
to Minnesota Fats G with Wayne weeks producing a 38 in his
match against J. Dickenson. Bayley F recorded a 4-1 win over
Maddocks B where Wally Harper produced two breaks of 25 in
his match with Tom Maxfield, and came out winning comfortably.
The rest of the team were beaten comprehensively except for
Les Hicks who lost by the narrowest of margins to Chris Shaw.
Nice to see Les still enjoying his snooker alongside Doug
Morrey, another player from my era.
Dawley B had a good win at home to Codden C beating them
4-1 with Barry Roden giving another solid performance for
his side. Bayley A went to Maddocks C and came away with a
3-2 win courtesy of wins by Steve Fletcher, Steve Nichols
and Chris Morgan Adams.
Maddocks D had a fine 4-1 win over Anstice C who are one
of the teams also fielding new players in their division.
Jason Mills being the only winner for Anstice C. Newcomers
Second Club Trench lost by the odd point to Little Dawley
G.
In the third division Bayley D and Bayley Q both had home
wins for their teams, Bayley D beating Wellington Billiard
Hall B 3-2 and Bayley Q winning 4-1 against Little Dawley
J. Little Dawley B went to Newport British Legion and came
away with a 3-2 win, with Colin Gittus having a 25 break in
his match. Meanwhile, Little Dawley X played Hadley A who
once again were beaten 5-0. Hadley will soon be off the mark
I’m sure.
Anstice B lost 3-2 at home to Bayley B and finally Minnesota
Fats C lost 3-2 to Shifnal D.
I would just mention that if anyone would like to make the
odd comment on their scorecard I’m sure I could make
the reports more entertaining to those of you who like to
read them!
