Shifnal A's John Fallows continued his recent return to form
when he beat Anstice A's Neil Price in the final of the annual
end-of-season division one individual at Coddon last Wednesday.
John didn't do it the easy way though as he clawed his way
back from 43 points down in the final which was reduced to
just one frame due to time constraints.
His Madeley opponent looked set to take the title only for
John to sink the final black to lift the title for the first
time.
In his semi-final John accounted for Neil's brother Keith
whilst Neil beat off the challenge of teammate Ian Duffy.
The second division final was an all Bayley affair with
A team captain Steve Fletcher taking on teammate Chris Morgan-Adams
in the best of three final.
And Chris was first out of the blocks, easily taking the
first frame as he left his opponent requiring snookers with
reds still on the table. Steve replied with a timely run of
30 to take the next and force the decider which proved to
be a close run thing.
Indeed, Chris can count himself very unlucky to see the white
ball trail in off into the corner pocket after potting the
blue, as he would have required only one more ball for victory.
As it was Steve sunk the blue and pink to take the match
by two frames to one.
In his semi-final Steve beat the man-in-form on the night,
Aaron Sparkes who made a delightful 61 break in his opening
round win over Andy O'Brien, whilst Chris accounted for Bayley
E's Steve Hoof.
And there was more joy for the Bayley in the division three
knockout which was won by the C team's Jim Lewis.
