Wellington Billiard Hall A

Wellington Billiard Hall on Tan Bank has for many years boasted some of the best players in the Telford League with the club's A side always in the shake up for league honours at the end of the season.

Runners-up last term after winning the League the previous season, the present side are again well placed in third spot as they attempt to repeat the club's unprecedented success in the Eighties, when they won the league title no fewer than seven times.

Captain Paul Harper leads a star studded line up which includes a locksmith and an electrician as well as an engineer.

At 26 Paul has many titles to his name including two County Championships and five Pro-Am wins. He has one daughter, Emma Megan, and has a highest personal break of 145.

Paul has also held the West Midlands snooker title as well as winning the Telford League's individual on four occasions.

Graham Darrall has also been crowned Shropshire Champion twice and has also won the old Wrekin League individual as well as two Telford Individual titles.

An engineer by trade, Graham has a highest break of 120 and when not potting balls can be seen on the golf course where he plays off a handicap of 11 or playing the classical guitar.

All round sportsman Morton Hughes has been one of the Leagues toughest competitors for many years and is perhaps one of the few players to have won all of the Leagues individual and doubles titles at one time or another.

A member of Wrekin Golf Club, the 58 year old electrician also lists fishing as one of his main interests. He has a highest personal break of 94.

Self Employed locksmith Phil Whitby is looking to complete a full set of League Titles having enjoyed success in winning each of divisions 2,3 and 4 in the past. With a highest break of 117, 33 year old Phil is rapidly becoming an accomplished player. He includes football and playing squash amongst his many hobbies.

Originally from Llay near Wrexham, 65 year old Spencer Rowley burst onto the local snooker scene by winning the John Bethell Memorial Trophy in his first season back in 1997. This was soon followed with success in the over 40's competition last year.

Now retired, Spencer enjoys spending time with his five grand children as well as holidaying abroad. He has a highest competition break of 88 with his best run in practice being 141.
